Antique Japanese Matsumoto Tansu - 1910s Meiji Era (25D-G015)
A small Meiji-period Matsumoto tansu, crafted in solid kiri wood throughout, exemplifying the clean, functional design typical of the region. The front features five drawers fitted with classic iron handles, alongside a hinged side door with a money-pouch–shaped lock plate (kinchaku-gata)—a hallmark detail of typical Matsumoto tansu. Inside the door are two small interior drawers for valuables.
Compact and well-proportioned, this piece works naturally as an end table or bedside cabinet. If additional height is desired, a custom metal stand can be made to elevate it while preserving its traditional character.
