Antique Japanese Ko Tansu Small Chest With Distinctive Kanagu Hardware Drawers (SKU 25D-G413)

Compact Taishō-era ko tansu with warm wood grain and finely worked kanagu metal fittings.

This charming antique Japanese ko tansu combines a double-door cabinet with three practical drawers, creating a versatile small chest ideal for modern living spaces. The front showcases beautifully aged natural wood with subtle vertical grain and mitered panel doors, balanced by understated iron pulls that speak to the quiet refinement of early 20th-century Japanese craftsmanship.

Below the cabinet section, two smaller drawers sit over a full-width drawer, each fitted with distinctive kanagu hardware in a simple, rectilinear style typical of everyday merchant and household tansu. The interior is clean and open, perfect for storing tea utensils, writing tools, or small accessories, while the compact footprint makes this piece easy to place on a low platform, sideboard, or desk as an accent of authentic Taishō-period design.
