This is an antique Japanese Hibachi made of Paulownia wood (Kirinoki) from late Meiji period (1890's-1910's).

It is decorated with beautiful flowers done by Makie technique.

Originally, this container to hold burning charcoal was used as a heating device for the Japanese home. Today, this very attractive object is ideal for a display of curios in your house or use as a planter.
