Antique Japanese Kimono Tansu Chest With Large Kannon Biraki Door (SKU 25D-A415)
Taishō-era kimono tansu with impressive kannon biraki doors and generous interior trays.
This handsome antique kimono tansu exemplifies early 20th-century Japanese cabinetry, combining clean architectural lines with practical storage. The upper section features large kannon biraki (double doors) that open to reveal a bank of shallow pull-out trays, ideal for carefully laying kimono, obi, or textiles flat to prevent creasing.
Below, three full-width drawers with simple iron warabite-style pulls offer ample space for folded garments or linens, while understated forged hardware and corner plates provide subtle contrast to the warm, straight-grained wood. With its quiet Taishō modern aesthetic and highly functional interior, this kimono tansu transitions effortlessly from traditional Japanese interiors to contemporary spaces as a refined wardrobe or linen cabinet.
