Taishō-era kimono tansu with rich grain, deep patina, and refined metalwork accents.
This elegant Japanese kimono tansu is crafted in two stacking sections, typical of early 20th-century storage chests designed for folded silk garments and obi. The warm, dark finish highlights the vivid wood grain, while the façade is rhythmically arranged with graduated drawers and a pair of upper sliding doors, creating a tall, architectural presence in the room.
Distinctive hardware punctuates the design: chrysanthemum-style lock escutcheons, graceful bail pulls, and a charming cloisonné-like medallion set into the indigo-toned sliding doors. Multiple drawers of varying depths, including a bank of small interior drawers, offer highly functional storage, making this antique tansu a practical statement piece for modern interiors.
A beautifully preserved kimono tansu that brings authentic Taishō-era character and refined Japanese craftsmanship to any space.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
