Taishō-era kiri kimono tansu with finely chiselled floral kanagu and working lock
This elegant antique kimono tansu was crafted in Japan for storing folded kimono and obi, its clean rectangular form and horizontal grain giving it a calm, architectural presence. The warm honey tone of the wood highlights the straight grain, while the staggered drawer configuration offers practical modern storage that still reads unmistakably as a traditional isho dansu.
Delicately worked iron kanagu (hardware) with floral and scroll motifs accent the corners, drawer pulls, and lock plates, including the distinctive “I”-shaped corner fittings typical of quality Taishō-period cabinetry. Retaining a functioning lock with key and smoothly gliding drawers, this kimono tansu is ready to serve as a bedroom dresser, living room sideboard, or entry console, bringing authentic Japanese character to any interior.
A refined Taishō kimono tansu that marries everyday function with the quiet beauty of Japanese craftsmanship.
We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.
All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
