This is a Japanese 2 section kimono chest called Kasane Tansu (mid 1900s)
It was constructed entirely out of Paulownia wood (Kirinoki) and the iron fittings were all hand made. The lackplates in the center has a design of Family crest called Katabami, oxalis which means prosperity.
Originally used for the storage of kimono in Japan, this chest would make a great clothes dresser or an elegant storage unit in any home decor.
