This is an antique Japanese 2 section stacking kimono chest called Kasane Tansu.

It was made using 100% Paulownia (Kirinoki) wood dated Middle Meiji period ( 1880's - 1890's). It has warabistyle handles and rounded lockplates.

Originally used for the storage of kimono in Japan, this chest would make a great clothes dresser or an elegant storage unit in any home decor.
