Description

This is an antique Japanese antique chest called Kannon Isho tansu, 2 section clothing chest. The wood used in this tansu is Paulownia (Kirinoki). Kiri wood is very light, fine-grained, soft, warp-resistant and has a high ignition point, which makes it ideal for clothing chests. Traditionally all clothing and were folded and placed in drawers before the influence of the west.

This chest displays elaborate metal hardware that is meant to make it look important and will catch the eye of the customer as well as your house guests.
