Antique Japanese Jubako Box Stand (SKU 25D-164)
Elegant black urushi stand for stacking jubako or as a refined low display table.
This antique Japanese jubako box stand is finished in a deep black lacquer, its square form and open sides giving it a light, architectural presence. Originally used to elevate tiered jubako food boxes during formal meals and celebrations, the low profile and slightly upturned rim secure the box while presenting it with understated dignity.
The clean lines and subtle chamfered edges suggest early 20th-century taste, where traditional urushi craft met a more modern, minimalist sensibility. Today this stand works beautifully as a compact display base for an ikebana arrangement, bonsai, or okimono, or as a small zen-like side table to highlight a favorite object in any interior.
