Antique Japanese Inari Fox, Porcelain (SKU 25S-523-4)

Taishō-era porcelain pair of kitsune guardians, seated on colorful shrine-style bases with sacred flame jewels.

This finely modeled pair of Inari foxes (kitsune) captures the elegant, elongated forms favored in early 20th-century Japanese porcelain. Each white fox sits upright with a tall curled tail, eyes half-closed in a meditative expression, and ears picked out in rich vermilion with delicate gilt accents along the rims and nose.

Resting on stepped plinths painted in bold black, orange, and turquoise, the foxes cradle a tama—Inari’s wish-granting jewel—surrounded by stylized flames in iron-red and gold. The overall effect recalls miniature shrine guardians, making this antique Japanese Inari fox porcelain pair ideal for an altar, tokonoma display, or as a focal point in a curated collection of Taishō-period ceramics.
