Finely cast bronze temple-style hanging lantern with melodic bells and intricate openwork panels.
This antique Japanese hanging lantern, or tsuri-dōrō, is crafted in heavy bronze with a rich, naturally aged patina. The tall hexagonal body is enclosed by pierced arabesque panels that would have softly filtered candle or oil-light, creating an atmospheric play of shadows reminiscent of Showa-era gardens and temple corridors.
A sweeping pagoda-form roof is ringed with delicate hanging bells that chime gently with movement, while the bracketed gallery and cloud-scroll base echo classical Buddhist and shrine architecture.
