Antique Japanese Geta Bako Shoe Chest Entryway Cabinet With Sliding Doors, Wood (SKU 25D-G031)
Warm-toned Taishō-era geta bako with classic sliding doors for an elegant, organized genkan.
This antique Japanese geta bako (shoe chest) is crafted in solid wood with a beautifully even, honey-brown finish that highlights the natural grain. Designed for the traditional genkan entryway, it features a practical combination of sliding doors and a tall hinged door, creating flexible storage for geta, zori, boots, and everyday footwear. The understated framework and clean lines embody the simplicity of early 20th-century Japanese design.
Four paneled sliding doors glide smoothly to reveal adjustable-style shelves, while the right-hand hinged compartment offers vertical space ideal for taller items. Recessed metal pulls and a side handle maintain a low profile, making this wooden entryway cabinet easy to place in modern interiors as a shoe cupboard, compact tansu-style storage, or a subtle display base for ceramics and ikebana.
