Antique Japanese Kannon Statue (SKU 25D-436)

Graceful white-glazed porcelain Kannon figure, a serene focal point for any Japanese interior

This elegant antique Japanese piece is a finely modeled standing figure of Kannon (Guanyin), the bodhisattva of compassion, rendered in a soft, milky-white glaze reminiscent of seihakuji and blanc de Chine wares. The folds of the robe cascade in gentle waves, framing the calm, downcast expression and delicately detailed headdress, while the figure cradles a scroll in both hands, symbolizing wisdom and benevolence.

Likely produced for a domestic butsudan altar or tokonoma display, the statue’s pure white surface and flowing silhouette make it especially compatible with ikebana and tea ceremony aesthetics. Subtle kiln nuances, minor firing marks, and light age-related discoloration at some edges add depth and authenticity, giving this sculpture a quiet presence that harmonizes beautifully with both traditional and modern spaces.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
