Antique Japanese Kyodai Dressing Table (SKU 25D-196-4)

Taishō-era kansui-dai with oval tilting mirror and stepped storage base

This antique Japanese dressing table, or kyōdai, dates to the early 20th century and showcases the refined simplicity of Taishō-period design. A tall oval mirror rises from a compact, stepped base, its frame and supports crafted from richly grained hardwood with a warm, mellow patina developed over decades of careful use.

Below, a practical arrangement of drawers and platforms provides storage for combs, cosmetics, and personal accessories, making this piece ideal as a tabletop vanity. Delicate openwork motifs along the back panel add a subtle decorative touch, while original metal pulls and hardware complete the authentic period character of this versatile dressing table.

As part of our mission to preserve and share Japanese craftsmanship, we offer antiques that were made not just to be admired, but to be used. These pieces were crafted for everyday life, and we honor their purpose by ensuring they can continue to be enjoyed and lived with today.

We use professional studio lighting to highlight the natural character of the wood. As a result, the tone may appear slightly warmer than under natural daylight.

All vintage and antique items are sold as-is. Each piece may exhibit signs of age, including scratches, wear, or minor imperfections. These are not considered defects but natural evidence of the item’s authenticity and age.
