Antique Japanese Panels Screen Divider (SKU 25D-353)
Taishō-era bamboo room divider with hand-cut landscape silhouettes
This antique Japanese 4-panel screen divider, or byōbu, is crafted with vertical bamboo slats framed in warm-toned wood, creating a light yet textural presence. Each panel is joined with traditional metal hinges, allowing the screen to fold and stand in gentle curves, ideal for defining space while maintaining an airy, organic feel.
Both the upper and lower rails feature charming hand-cut sukashi (openwork) designs: mountain silhouettes, pines, and stylised clouds and birds evoke a tranquil landscape reminiscent of Taishō-era aesthetics. The natural patina, subtle wear to the frame, and consistent coloration of the bamboo give this vintage room divider an inviting, time-softened character suited to either traditional Japanese interiors or wabi-sabi inspired modern spaces.
