This is a vintage Japanese Daikoku figurine, statue made of wood from mid.1900's.

Daikouten (Daikou), the God of great darkness or blackness, or the God of five grains, is one of the Seven Lucky Gods. Daikoku is often considered to be the God of wealth or the God of households, particularly the kitchen.

He is recognized by his wide face, smile, and a flat black hat. He is often portrayed holding a golden mallet called an Uchideno Kozuchi, otherwise known as a magic money mallet, and is seen standing on bales of rice, with mice nearby suggesting plentiful food. It will be a great addition to ones own Mingei collection.
