This is vintage Japanese Ranma, transom with wooden carvings of dynamic Matsu, Japanese pine tree from early Showa (1920's-1940's). Matsu is evergreen and it has thousands tree age so it symbolizes longevity and is known for one of the most auspicious motif in Japan.
Transoms are used for ventilation and lighting above sliding doors between Nihon-ma, Japanese room.
It is ideal for bedroom headboard, partition, divider or as a picture in your living room.
