This is an vintage Japanese wooden lacquered hibachi from Taisho period (1910's-1920's).
It comes in an removable copper lining and the wooden cotainer is made by Mage Wappa technique. Mage Wappa, Bent-woodware is a traditional Japanese steam bending wood craft.
Originally used as a hand warmer, there are multiple contemporary uses for this piece such for use as a planter or for display.
