This is a vintage Japanese personal storage chest called Ko Tansu from Taisho period (1910's-1920's). It was used to store letters, documents, books and other items for daily use. Made of Paulownia wood (Kirinoki). This tansu does not come with an compartment with a sliding doors, just drawers so very practical on a desk for additional office storage.
