Description

This is a vintage Japanese 1 section tea chest called Cha Tansu from Taisho Period (1910's-1920's). It is constructed from Japanese Ash (Tamo), Horse Chestnut (Tochinoki), and Paulownia (Kirinoki) woods.

This cabinet was used to store tea sets and items used for tea service to entertain guests.  The shelves were used for seasonal display.
