This serene stone Jizō (地蔵) statue dates to the late Meiji era, around 1880. Hand-carved from andesite or volcanic stone, it depicts the Bodhisattva Jizō in a traditional prayer pose, hands pressed in gasshō mudra. Weathered with age and timeworn moss patina, the statue carries the calm, protective spirit Jizō is revered for—especially as guardian of travelers and children. A quiet, spiritual presence ideal for garden or interior display.
