This is an antique Japanese Shinto Shrine called Yashiro, Omiya, or Kamidana made of  Cryptomeria (Suginoki) wood from Taisho period (1910's-1920's).

This was hand crafted in nice detail and gained beautiful patina from smoke from charcoal through years.

Shinto shrines were often used in Japanese homes to present offerings to the Gods. Large Kamidana can also be seen in neighborhood corners where residents and families donated to the construction and placement of these shrines for all to worship and enjoy.

This will be a great accent piece for your home.
