This is an antique Japanese multi-drawer chest called Hikidashi Dansu from late Meiji period (1890's-1910's). Constructed of Cryptomeria (Suginoki) and Cypress (Hinoki) woods.
It was used as a merchant filing chest to keep track of invoices and other business related documents.
It will be a great piece to add to your collection.
