Antique Japanese Kimono Cabinet — Lacquered Kiri, 1920s, Taishō Era (SKU: 25M-A321)

Deep amber wood catching the glow of evening lamps

With its richer stain and silk-tasseled door latches, this isho-tansu likely graced a more formal zashiki reception room. The vertical grain panels are framed by ebony-black corner brackets that contrast like traditional sumi ink against rice paper.

Behind the lockable doors, a cedar interior hides shelf niches for folded kimono, while two futon drawers below offered storage for winter quilts. Delicate “shippo” (seven-treasure) pulls—symbols of harmony—add an extra layer of auspicious charm. Place it in a bedroom, gallery, or boutique to lend gravitas and gentle nostalgia.
