This is a 2 section antique Japanese stacking chest called Kiri Kasane Iso Tansu. It is made of Kiri (Paulownia). Hardwares are decorated with auspicious motif. The age of this tansu is circa 1880 to 1890 from the mid Meiji era. Originally used for kimono storage, it would make a great contemporary dresser or linen cabinet. Each section can be used separately for versatility or stacked together to save space.
