This is a vintage Japanese Ranma, transom with wooden carvings of traditional scenery from mid.1900's. Transoms are used for ventilation and lighting above sliding doors between Nihon-ma, Japanese room.

This type of ranma is called Chokoku ranma, ranma with carvings which requires skills specially using thick wood like this.

It is ideal for bedroom headboard, partition, divider or as a picture in your living room.
