This is a vintage Japanese Ranma, transom made of Paulownia (Kiri) and Cyress (Hinoki) woods from early Showa period (1920's-1940's). Transoms are used for ventilation and lighting above sliding doors between Nihon-ma, Japanese room. It has elegant flowers across in the middle which are traditional auspicious motif in Japan.
This type of ranma is called Sukashibori ranma, ranma with an openwork panel.
It is ideal for bedroom headboard, partition, divider or as a picture in your living room.
