This is a vintage Japanese wooden Ranma, transom from early Showa period (1920's-1940's).

Ranma is an elaborately carved wooden panel that is placed above a sliding door and beneath the ceiling betweem Nihon-ma, Japanese room for ventilation and lighting.

It is ideal for bedroom headboard, partition, divider or as a picture in your living room.
