This is a vintage Japanese personal storage chest called Ko Tansu Taisho period (1910's-1920's).

This tansu is made entirely of Paulownia (Kirinoki) wood. It has a pair of sliding doors and 3 drarwers, originally to store letters, documents, books and other items for daily use.

Contemporary uses for this piece include placement on a desk for additional office storage or using this as an elegant side table.
