This is a set of 5 vintage Japanese Kiridame food storage boxes from the Taisho period (1910's-1920's). Made from Cryptomeria (Sugi) with a lacquered finish, these boxes are both lightweight and durable. Each box is designed to nest inside the other for convenient storage, or they can be stacked on top of one another when in use.

The cryptomeria construction gives the boxes a natural, rustic charm, while the lacquer adds a layer of refinement and protection. These boxes were traditionally used for storing food and reflect Japan's long-standing tradition of functional yet beautiful craftsmanship.
