Description

This is a vintage Japanese tea chest called Cha Tansu fromTaisho period (1910's-1920's). It was constructed from Zelkova (Keyaki) and Paulownia (Kirinoki) and other woods.

Tea chests were often used to display various items and would be always out in view, which is why tea chests were usually made of high quality and finely figured woods as it is showed on this tansu. One more amazing character of this tansu is that all handles are made of wood.

This chest would be a great conversation piece.
