This is a vintage 1 section Japanese small tea chest called Ko Cha Tansu from Taisho period (1910's-1920's). It was made from Mulberry (Kuwa) and Paulownia wood (Kirinoki). Originally used for the storage of tea accoutrements for guest tea service, its contemporary function can be used as a side table or small chest to store personal belonging and display decorative items.
