This is a vintage 1 section Japanese tea chest called Cha Tansu from Taisho period (1910's-1920's). Constructed from Horse Chestnut (Tochinoki), and Paulownia (Kirinoki) woods, this cabinet was used to store tea sets and items used for tea service to entertain guests.
There is a shelf inside to add flexibility to its storage and display as well as an attractive and beautiful wood grain.
