This is an authentic Japanese 2 section Kimono Tansu called Kamo Isho Tansu from late 1900's. It was made using 100% Paulownia (Kirinoki) wood and it originated in the Kamo region of Japan.
Tansu made in this area use the highest grade of Paulownia wood that comes from the mountains of Aizu.
The thick wood combined with the beautiful joinery used to make this chest will provide many years of enjoyment and use. It also has amazing details on each hardwares.
Originally used to store Japanese Kimono, it would work well in today's home as a clothes dresser for daily use.
