 This is a 2 section kitchen chest called Goshu Mizuya Tansu referred as a Kyoto kitchen chest from middle Meiji period (1880's-1890's).  This set stacks in two sections and features voluminous storage and traditional elegance.

It was constructed using Cypress (Hinoki), Zelkova (Keyaki) and Cryptomeria (Suginoki) woods.

Originally kept in an old Japanese country home, it was used to store dishes, pots of water, and eating utensils.

It would make a great statement in any room of the house and add functionality as a storage unit.
