This is a vintage Japanese Hibachi, brazier from Taisho period (1910's-1920's). It is made from Zelkova (Keyaki) ,Paulownia (Kiri) and other woods, done in excellent joineries.

Originally, this container to hold burning charcoal was used as a heating device. It has an open-topped container wiht nice copper lining and bamboo cylinder is for ash for smoking. There are useful drawers on the bottom to store devices for heating. It has nice handles on both side and to carry it around in the house.

Today, this very attractive object is ideal for a display of curios in your house or it will work wonderfully as a planter since it has nice copper lining.
