This is a vitnage Japanese Shigaraki garden Tanuki statue from mid.1900's.

The legendary Tanuki (Badger Dog) from Shigaraki, this famous kiln region is well known for making fine quality outdoor decorative garden figurines, pots and jars.  

It is shown holding a sake jar and has a creditor's account book and removal straw hat.

Tanuki, a type of Japanese animal often depicted in folklore as mischievous and playful creatures with supernatural abilities. In Japanese culture, Tanuki are also considered symbols of good fortune and prosperity.
