This is a vintage Japanese Kazari Dana, display shelf or bookshelf from early Showa (1920's-1940's). It was made from beautiful solid wood and natural pieces of wood attached on the back.

This shelf would house accoutrements for tea service as well as display seasonal and special occasion decorative items on the open shelves.
