Antique Japanese Samurai Bamboo Hat Jingasa (23O-432)
This is an antique Japanese bamboo hat called Jingasa worn by Samurai from Bakumatsu in Edo (1850's-1860's). Jingasa means military hat. During Edo period when a time of peace, heavy Kubuto were replaced by Jingasa because it is made of lighweight for traveling light and easy to carry.
It was woven tightly to be durable and water resistant. It is in a good condition, great piece to add to your collection.
