This is an antique Japanese 2 section kimono chest called Kasane Tansu from the mid Meiji period (1880's-1890's). It was constructed entirely out of Paulownia wood (Kirinoki) and the iron fittings were all hand made.
Originally used for the storage of kimono in Japan, this chest would make a great clothes dresser or an elegant storage unit in any home decor.
