This is a vintage Japanese personal storage chest called Ko Tansu from Taisho period (1910's-1920's). It was used to store letters, documents, books and other items for daily use. Made of 100% Paulownia wood (Kirinoki).
Handles of the drawers, shape of pulls, contrast colors on the frame on the tansu, all details are nicely done.
Contemporary uses for this piece include placement on a desk for additional office storage or using this as an elegant side tab
