This is a vintage Japanese Kobako small box made of of Kusunoki, Cmphor wood which smells really nice. It is from Taisho Period (1910's-1920's).
Originally used to store notes, ephemera, photos, stationery and anything else that would fit in the drawers, its present day use works very well as a jewelry box, a cosmetic box, or a convenient place to store bills and receipts.
