This is a vintage Japanese 2 section Kimono chest called Kimono Kannon Ryobiraki Tansu from Taisho period (1910's-1920's).
It was made using 100% Paulownia (Kirinoki) wood.
The upper section houses Kimono trays which slide out smoothly behind the hinged doors and and 3 drawers on the bottom.
Traditionally used to store properly folded Kimono, these trays are ideal for storing sweaters, shirts, blouses and linens in today's contemporary home.
Separating the sections allows for placement in different rooms which adds to the versatility of these chests.
