This is an antique Japanese 2 section Kanto Mizuya Dansu, Kitchen chest from Kanto region from Late Meiji period (1890's-1910's). Stunning look of this tansu is coming only from lacquer Keyaki (Zelkova) wood and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) wood.
Mizuya Dansu was most likely used in the kitchen of a Japanese household for the storage of plates, utensils and food items. Since this chest has many types of drawers and cabinets, it is very useful for today’s modern kitchen to store dishes and utensils.
