This is an antique pair of Sashi Daru, wooden lacquered sake container from Middle Meiji period (1880's-1890's).
In Japan, there are many kinds of shapes of sake containers and Sashi Daru, and Tsuno Daru (containers with 2 horns on top) are used special occasions like wedding so both sides are often decorated with family crest but these pair have interesting textures.
The top lid can be removed to pour sake. This is so unique and will be a great home decor.
