This is an antique Japanese personal storage chest called Ko Tansu date Middle Meiji period (1880's - 1890's). It was used to store letters, documents, books and other items for daily use. Made of 100% Paulownia wood (Kirinoki).
The pulls on the sliding doors have nice details and inside of compartment has a shelf. Contemporary uses for this piece include placement on a desk for additional office storage or using this as an elegant side table.
