This is an vintage Japanese Kiri Hibachi, brazier made of paulownia wood from early Showa (1920-1940's).
It has traditional scenery, Kiku, chrysanthemum along the fence with accent of Raden, mother-of-pearls. It come with a removable copper lining. There are some chips on the mother-of-pearls.
Originally used as a hand warmer, there are multiple contemporary uses for this piece such for use as a planter or for display.
