This is a 2 section antique Japanese stacking chest called Kiri Kasane Tansu. It is made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood and hinoki (Japanese cypress) for the frames, from Middle Meiji period ( 1880's - 1890's). Nice handles are decorated with auspicious motif and metal on the corners
Originally used for kimono storage, it would make a great contemporary dresser or linen cabinet.
Each section can be used separately for versatility or stacked together to save space. Each section has carrying handles to easily move from place to place.
