This is an antique Japanese exquisite lacquer set of stacking food presentation boxes called Jubako from middle Meiji period (1880's-1890's).

It was hand lacquered Makie family crest of Suhama. Suhama is a name of Japanese sweets, and origin of this name is the island which can be found near the seashore so this family crest is used by wealthy families who live near the seashore.

The Jubako comes with 2 lids and original wooden box.
